Two things make parasite control different in Kenya: there is no cold season to break the cycle, and the tapeworm risk here is a human health issue as well as an animal one.
We weigh every animal before dosing. Owner estimates are consistently low, and an underdosed worming is close to no worming at all. It takes a minute and it is the difference between the treatment working and not.
For ticks, the risk we are actually managing is tick-borne disease, not itching. Babesiosis and ehrlichiosis are common in Kenya and they kill dogs. Prevention runs continuously here.

Common questions
Do I need an appointment just to deworm?
For a healthy adult, no. Come in and we will weigh and dose. A puppy, or a pet with visible worms or persistent diarrhoea, should be seen properly.
Is the agrovet tablet the same thing?
Often the same active ingredient, yes. The difference is the dose calculation and the choice of product. Both are where over-the-counter worming usually goes wrong.
